Bumanik’s Precautionary Action – Covid-19

Bumanik’s Precautionary Action – Covid-19

Over the past 3 months, the world has been suffering a hit from Coronavirus which is commonly known as COVID-19. It has taken so many tolls on a lot of businesses and other sectors. Many companies are forced to take drastic measures in order to cope with the recent situation caused by COVID-19. In response to this outbreak, PT Bumanik’s Site Office, led by Mr. Alwansyah as Site Manager, has issued Internal Memo No: 001/BMNK-SITE/III/2020 along with its implementation guideline on Precautionary Action of COVID-19 Transmission. This said regulatory product aims to ensure that COVID-19 precautionary measures are duly implemented by employees, employees’ families, as well as employees of PT Bumanik’s working partners. Also emphasized by Mr. Alwansyah,”This procedure is dynamic and open for suggestion which means that any precautionary measures that are yet to be included can be added. We always monitor and refer to the needs and the suggested precautionary measures, be it on global, national, or regional scale.”

One of precautionary measures implemented in PT Bumanik’s working area in our Site Office is maintaining hygiene. It is paramount to protecting ourselves from COVID-19, and in Bumanik’s mess area, water sinks have been installed at several points.

Upfront at our mess entry point, disinfectant is ready to be sprayed on our employees who have arrived from their periodic leave. Such procedure is implemented to prevent anyone from being a potential carrier of the virus.

We also conduct temperature check in several working areas including our pit and jetty and if any employee is found to have body temperature at 38oC (minimum) then they are forbidden to perform any duty and shall be isolated immediately.

Another way of maintaining health that is undertaken by PT Bumanik is doing a physical exercise. It is suggested for our employees to stay fit by doing exercise and one of which is playing table-tennis.

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is a tall order in a mining project and PT Bumanik is always committed to ensure that such is duly practiced.
