On Monday, Bumanik commemorated such event amid a certain predicament, which is the widely-spread pandemic, that has been befalling the entire world. Event-wise, it was hard to repeat, let alone surpass, last year’s occasion due to health and safety restriction. However, that did not stifle the euphoria at all.

Bumanik were lined up for 4 competitions, they were: chant, gymnastic, fishing, and table-tennis with Independence Day ceremony kickstarting the monumental day as usual. The ceremony was led by Mr. Yul Widiasentosa who serves as the General Manager. On the ongoing predicament he commented, “In my 30+ years working on mining sites all over the country, this is the first time I am faced with such circumstance.”

“For a second, I was afraid that we couldn’t live up to the animosity that this historical date brings. But then I was dawned on by the fact that we, Bumanik, are a team made of resiliency and we all were assembled for any kind of hardship.”

The ceremony was followed by the Best Employee Award with Mr. Wahyudin (Mining Foreman), Mr. Adrius Kumape (Shipping Foreman), and Mrs. Sumarni (HRGA Crew) taking home the title for Bumanik. “By no means of inflating the essence of this year’s winner, but it’s hard not to say that this award feels much more compelling given the pandemic crisis”, said Mr. Raditya Hermawan, Bumanik HSE Supervisor.

He went on to say, “Health and safety are of paramount concerns in mining industry, but what we have been going through suddenly turns them up a notch and that is why this year’s award carries more weight.”

Chant competitions, earmarked to exemplify the vigor amidst pandemic, began shortly after the ceremony, which embodies the spirit of competitiveness, followed thereafter.
